I’m going to talk about Creature AI, namely Creature behavior, Types of Creatures, How Creatures interact, but I’m mostly talking about RPGs however other game could do a similar thing. Creature behavior obviously should vary, but the over all behaviors can incentivize certain types of gameplay for example if you have aggressive AI, you force the player to play defensively(It also depends on the over all system, because that could be overwritten by a mechanic or something else), and vis versa for defensive AI. The basic types of Creatures I can think of are, Offensive, Defensive and Neutral, Neutral can be left out because, Those would be closer to Objects(They’re basically Plant AI), Offensives AI are creatures that attack on sight, Defensive AI can be Things that flee, or defend territory, other kind or themselves from Attackers(Or potential attackers) Defensive AI would be very useful for Animals, and Offensive Is great for less reasonable creatures like a zombie(Creatures could even switch between to two). If the creatures have a faction system then the AI Interaction can do some crazy things like have Buffalos defend each other from a small pride of Lions or if the games AI is optimized enough for it have Entire Food webs. What do you think? are these AI Behaviors useful or are they poorly thought out?
